Amazon Studios is moving forward with their series reboot of The Tick, which will be a different take on the inept superhero and starring a different cast than the last time around. In the latest news from the pilot, Peter Serafinowicz has been cast in the main role, which was played in live-action by Patrick Warburton 15 years ago.

According to Deadline, the English actor and comedian has officially signed up for the role in the upcoming pilot, which will be a new take on the character. He joins Griffin Newman in the role of Arthur (who's Tick's sidekick) and Valorie Curry as Dot, Arthur's sister who grows very concerned over her brother's well being.

Serafinowicz has a strong background in geek culture already, since he's been part of a few major franchises. He had a role in Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and voiced Darth Maul in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace. Aside from that, he's also done work in a few cult projects, including the Cornetto Trilogy (he was the zombie roommate in Shaun of the Dead), Parkers and a few recurring roles in Archer.

Much like Warburton, Serafinowicz also has a strong background in voice work as well as voice acting.

The Wrap reports that Bed Edlund, who created The Tick in comic book form and has overseen all adaptations so far, will write and executive produce the pilot, with Barry Josephson joining in behind the camera. The two previously worked together on the 2001 Fox live-action series that only lasted 9 episodes.

Christopher Nolan collaborator Wally Pfister will be directing the pilot episode. Former star Warburton will also be involved in the project, although only behind the screen. He'll be one of the executive producers. Hopefully, he'll also have at least a cameo in some capacity or another if the pilot ends up getting a series order.
