Game of Thrones Season 6 is set to premiere on April 24, 201. This will be for the very first time when the viewers and the book readers will be on the same page, not knowing what is going to happen on the show. However, when the book's author George R. R. Martin releases The Winds of Winter, will book lovers will have a different story to read compared to what they will be seeing on HBO?
In a conversation with Entertainment Weekly, showrunner David Benioff said that fans have been wondering that if Season 6 will premiere before the release of the novel, there are chances that it will ruin the book for them. Benioff, who has also written more than 35 episodes of Game of Thrones from 2011, assured the fans that they should not worry about the upcoming series ruining The Winds of Winter for them.
"So much of what we're doing diverges from the books at this point. And while there are certain key elements that will be the same, we're not going to talk so much about that - and I don't think George is either. People are going to be very surprised when they read the books after the show. They're quite divergent in so many respects for the remainder of the show."
In January, Martin announced that the next part of A Song of Ice and Fire series was not going to get ready by the time the series will return in April 2016. Though the producers of the show have always hoped that Martin would keep pace with the show, but at the same time -- no one can put a running key into a writer. In his blog, Martin stated that Season 6 of Game of Thrones will have major plot twists that have not happened in the books.
The release date for The Winds of Winters has been pushed back a few times and now fans are expecting that the book will hit stores at least before the season 6 finale.
