The Flash S02E17 'Flash Back' Grant Gustin, Danielle Panabaker, Candice Patton Premiere Recap

The CW network continues with the mid-Season 2 premiere of The Flash. In Episode 17, will Iris West (Candice Patton), Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker) and Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), the scarlet speedster, discover how to fight Flash Back?

Knowing Jay Garrick is Zoom, Barry realizes he has been tricked again. He has been working nonstop to solve equations to stop Zoom. Caitlin wonders if Barry just cannot be faster. Joe (Jesse L. Martin) and Iris try to tell Barry that no one could have seen Jay as Zoom.

Iris tells Barry that she wants to date her editor, but she still feels for Eddie. Wally West (Keiynan Lonsdale) shows up for dinner with good news; his engine designs are getting noticed. Getting an idea from Wally, Barry thinks Harrison Wells from the past can help him go faster. Wells from Earth-2 thinks the plan is horrible; people will die and things will be different.

In his time travel, The Flash has to meet with Pied Piper aka Hartley Rathaway, who may know how to help him. Caitlin and Cisco are not meant to know Wells is Thawne. Running backwards in time, the scarlet speedster runs into a demon and arrives too early. 

The Flash has to fight himself and injects himself with a tranquilizer. After defeating Pied Piper and putting him in a prison cell, Barry shows Harrison Wells his equation and asks for his help. Joe asks Eddie (Rick Cosnett) to do something off the books for him. A demon suddenly appears and attacks them. 

The Flash stands in shock as he sees Eddie alive and well. Eddie realizes things are getting stranger in the city. While Cisco works on finding their demon, Wells knocks out Barry. Waking up in Wells' secret lab, Barry learns about the time wraith that's been chasing him. Barry needs to know how he manipulated the speed force.

Just as Wells is about to kill him, Barry reveals there was a singularity. As the two make their own threats to each other, Cisco (Carlos Valdes) meets with Hartley. The wraith starts chasing after Caitlin. She hides with Hartley and and Cisco as the wraith attacks the cell. Hartley saves the two as he uses his gauntlet to hurt the wraith. 

Recording from his camera, Barry gets Eddie to speak from the heart about Iris. The other Flash wakes up and arrives at STAR Labs. After future Barry tries to explain himself, Wells gives him a drive to understand his speed force. 

The Flash races against the wraith as he ends up back in his own timeline. Cisco and Caitlin are unable to stop the wraith from draining Barry's life-force. Arriving in the nick of time, Hartley hits the wraith and saves the scarlet speedster. 

After Barry unlocks the drive, he has a conversation with Wells about Jesse. Barry then shows Iris the video he made with Eddie. Barry then holds Jay Garrick's helmet, promisinghe's next.
