The second season of Daredevil may have been about Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) struggle to do what is right while keeping Hell's Kitchen safe, but there is little doubt that it was Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle that towered over the Netflix show. But will The Punisher return in Season 3? Bernthal has just confirmed that although he doesn't know how Frank will return, The Punisher is definitely in his "bones!"
Bernthal spoke to Complex, where he revealed that he is still unsure whether The Punisher is coming back to Daredevil or if he will be introduced in a different Netflix show.
"For me, it's not a question of what they want to do with a character, it's more, how are they going to do it, and who's going to be the ones to do it," Bernthal said, adding that The Punisher is now a major part of his life.
"This character is in my bones now, he's in my blood," he said before explaining that although he doesn't know how The Punisher will return to TV, he wants the antihero to return in a similar way that he was initially introduced.
"If they want to go forward in any way, for me it's just really going to be about making sure we do it in a way that's raw and intense," Bernthal said, stating that Frank's comeback should thrill fans even more.
"I want to push the envelope," he said. "I wanna alienate more of the audience and try to bring them back."
On a lighter note, Bernthal was a guest on Conan O'Brien's TBS show, where he shared that he might be a tough guy, but he certainly doesn't want to mess with comic book fans.
There has been speculation that Bernthal's The Punisher will star in his own Netflix show, however the network has not yet addressed the rumors.
