Warner Bros. is keeping movement going with the latest news for the new Stephen King movie adaptation, It. With the release date set in stone, now a new name, Kirk Acevedo, has been dropped to fill in the the creepy clown shoes Tim Curry's Pennywise left 26 years ago.
UPDATED:
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "Bill Skarsgard has the It factor. The actor, who is one of the stars of Hemlock Grove, has nabbed the role of Stephen King's iconic villain Pennywise the Clown in New Line's adaptation of the author's landmark novel It."
As we previously mentioned, Warner has just confirmed the upcoming remake has been locked in for a fall release date. The prohect found itself in development hell when the True Detective director walked away from the project over creative differences, Mamá filmmaker Andrés Muschietti landed himself in the director's chair afterwards.
From what we know so far, the adaptation will begin production as early as this very summer. Much like its 4-hour miniseries event back in the 1990, it might be split into two parts. In the storyline, a group of friends find themselves being stalked by a killer clown known as Pennywise. Though they defeated the monster in the past, the group must reunite once more when the Pennywise returns to their home town. Though they are older, are they stronger and wiser to stop their worst childhood memory before he strikes again?
According to Bloody-Disgusting, that various actors have been part of the make-up tests. This role requires the actor to be in clown make-up the entire time. One of the most exciting names who could be frontrunner is Kirk Acevedo, who is currently knocking it out of the park in 12 Monkeys. Remember, Acevedo was scary as hell, without any make-up on, in the HBO's prison series, Oz.
Whether or not this is casting news or just gossip rumors, the Fringe actors had this to say on his official Twitter account:
Hmmm...
