Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, the four-movie Netflix revival of the cult dramedy starring Lauren Graham and Alexis Bledel as mom-and-daughter duo Lorelai and Rory, has been in post production for the past couple of months, but there's still no release date -- though that might change very soon. Rumor has it we'll get a date for the 9-years-later sequel in July!
According to TVLine, the two main stars of the show and a few others (including Luke Danes actor Scott Patterson) will be making their first press appearance for the Netflix revival this month. Joined by series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband/executive producer Daniel Palladino, the Gilmore Girls guys will be taking up their own panel in Netflix's Television Critics Association tour July 27.
So far, it's unclear whether fans will get any new footage of A Year in the Life (let's hope for a teaser!), but at least a release date seems feasible. For months, it has been rumored that the revival will in fact come out later this year, possibly at some point in the fall, with a possible date rumored around Thanksgiving weekend.
Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life will consist of four 90-minute movies, each of them set in one of the seasons of the year and following the many characters of the beloved series.
It seems the entire gang from Stars Hollow and beyond is back, with all three of Rory's major boyfriends returning for the encore, as well as quirky characters as varied as Keiko Agena's Lane to Sean Gunn's Kirk -- even Ghostbusters superstar Melissa McCarthy will be appearing in the revival, reprising her role as Lorelai's best friend and Dragonfly Inn chef Sookie.
Although plot details of the Netflix revival remain unclear (who, WHO will Rory end up with?!), the cast has been dropping pictures and love on social media for months, from set snaps to teasing their scripts.
Over the past few weeks, the guys at Netflix have also been doing their part in peaking everyone's interest, creating an Instagram account dedicated to the upcoming show. A few weeks back, the entire run of the show, which was only available in the United States for streaming, became available all over the world, prepping up fans for the return to Stars Hollow.
One person from the main cast will be sadly missing, however: Edward Herrmann, who played Richard Gilmore throughout the entirety of the show, sadly passed away in 2014.
