Nissan's ProPILOT is not a car; It's a Chair Parallel to Wall-E's Self-Driving Chairs!

Many companies offer their versions of electric vehicles and battery-operated rides and Nissan does not want to be left along the way. The automaker has its own ProPILOT tech that appeared in its Serena minivan in Japan since August. But, take note, this is not a car but a Nissan ProPILOT  chair.

Popular Science said that this ProPILOT is Nissan's gift to line-sitters in Japan. It is also the reason why these self-driving chairs were manufactured.

ProPILOT's technology allows the car to not only sense how far a car is ahead of it, and they applied such technology in the self-pivoting software used in the chair. However, the most widespread use of this technology is now found in cars, but the chairs hint at a future where similar tech repurposed for other purposes.

In a video released by Nissan last Tuesday, the company showed how their new self-driving chairs moved patrons waiting outside a busy restaurant along in an orderly manner. It also showed that once a person at the front of the queue gets up from their chair, the empty chair moves to the end of the line while everyone else moves forward, while the other are seated, as TechWire Asia reported.

Does it sound familiar?Well, if you have watched Pixar's Wall-E, an animated film wherein all human lives in a place chairs that sits around and not necessitates them to walk.

"It appeals to anyone that has queued outside for hours outside a crowded restaurant: it eliminates the tedium and physical strain of standing in line," Nissan said in an interview according to an AFP report published by Japan Today.

And as car companies continuously work on autonomous and electric-powered automobiles, we can expect in the future that Nissan will produce other self-driving vehicles. Who knows, it's a self-driving bed in the future?
