Get to know X-23, the girl from the 'Logan' movie trailer

A teaser trailer of the third installment of "Wolverine" has finally been released. This will be the ninth and possibly the final portrayal of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. The movie's creators have changed the title to "Logan".

The official logo for "Logan" shows a young girl's hand holding Wolverine. The trailer that was released gives the fans of Wolverine, and X-Men, a glimpse of Wolverine's clone, X-23, played by Dafne Keen.

According to Marvel's description of X-23, Laura Kinney, as she was named by her surrogate mother Doctor Sarah Kinney, came from the only available sample of Wolverine's DNA. The sample was severely damaged and they were unable to save the Y chromosomes after 22 attempts. Doctor Kinney proposed that they make a female clone but was declined, yet she still went ahead and X-23 was born.

She was raised in captivity and trained to be a weapon. She is considered to be the perfect assassin.

One of the scientists from the Weapon X program was cruel to her because his father died as a result of the program. The scientist pulled a claw from each of her hands and placing them on her feet. X-23 has two claws on each hand and one on each foot. She was also exposed to "trigger scent" that sends her to a murderous rage. It was during one of these rages that she killed her surrogate mother.

The third installment of the "Wolverine" movie was said to be based on the "Old Man Logan" storyline of Mark Millar. The actor, Hugh Jackman, had said during one of his interviews that this will be his last time to play Wolverine.

X-23's appearance in the movie was speculated to be her introduction as a replacement of Wolverine in future X-Men movies. However, "Logan" is set at least two decades in the future, which makes it hard to put X-23 in other possible X-Men movies whose sets will be within those two decades.

Comic Book revealed the synopsis of the movie. The plot is set for 2024 with an older Logan, whose healing abilities is fading, and Professor Charles Xavier suffering from Alzheimer's. The mutants were decreasing in number and so does the mutant births. The government is running a weapons program turning the mutant kids to killing machines. Logan must defeat the group that has been destroying the world, led by Nathaniel Essex, with the help of his young female clone Laura Kinney.

James Mangold directs "Logan". David James Kelly and Michael Green will write the script. "Logan" will hit theaters in March 03, 2017.
