The popularity of wireless technology brought forth the modern work environment setup globally, thus providing a strong reason why the traditional Wi-Fi has been developed further by specialists to create a better-performing wireless connection: the WiGig from Wi-Fi Alliance.
According to Computer Weekly, the security that Wi-Fi brings is always questionable for critics for it does not always sustain a good grip. Due to this, lots of cyber-trespassers penetrate into networks with poor Wi-Fi access point connections.
Furthermore, businesses are quite getting cautious towards using Wi-Fi guaranteed connection, which is shying away from adoption. Also, most modern phones, laptops, tablets and routers today support 802.11ac Wi-Fi which in theory tops out at the speed of 4.5Gbps.
Luckily, the Wi-Fi Alliance TM will bring a new direction through WiGig, which is reported by The Verge to nearly double Wi-Fi's current top speed. WiGig is called as the "marquee" for smartphones and laptops for the coming year.
A higher frequency than the traditional 2.4GHz, 3.6GHz, and 5GHz is the top priority of WiGig. WiGig is expected to run on the 60GHz band and can avoid all kinds of interference along the way that will lessen the band technologies as well as to perform a reach throughput of 5Gbps.
More so, WiGig will give the best and exciting and limitless Virtual Reality experience. For the reason that WiGig is very fast, it will then be very useful and is fast enough to support VR. Also, Wi-Fi Alliance suggests that the high speeds of WiGig will be very helpful in Augmented Reality or AR, streaming and 4K videos.
However, WiGig has a great limitation, and that is for only working over a short range of about 33 feet or a total of 10 meters duration. "We talked about it as an in-room technology," Kevin Robinson, VP of Wi-Fi Alliance marketing clears out the weakness of WiGig.
"Back there in 2009, we had began through looking at the applications that the Wi-Fi and other existing technology was not suitable for," Ali Sadri, President, and Chairman of the Board of Wi-Fi Alliance said in an interview. "WiGig technology is the best technology."
