Jay Z's music service Tidal is being sued by the Prince's music label, NPG Records for allegedly illegally streaming all of deceased singer's popular songs. The rapper counters that he has written permission from the label to stream Prince's music on air.

New York Daily News reports that Prince, prior to his death has signed an agreement with Jay Z's Roc Nation to let them stream music. However, the agreement allegedly only was intended for Prince's last album "Hit N Run: Phase 1," but Tidal has streamed most of his popular songs. Some of the music that Tidal played on air includes "Cream," "Pop Life," "Purple Rain," "I Wanna Be Your Lover" and more.

NPG is now suing Roc Nation for copyright infringement and wants to remove all of Prince's music from the Tidal music service. Additionally, Roc has also been using Prince's pictures and artwork as well. However, all songs included in the last album can be streamed as originally intended.

Roc Nation claimed that they have written permissions claiming they had rights to stream two albums "Hit N Run: Phase One" and "Hit N Run: Phase Two" and songs to Prince's unreleased album plus the right to exclusively stream the songs. However, the document has not been procured yet, noted CNN Money.

Prince or Prince Rogers Nelson was an iconic singer-song writer who has had more than 30 albums that sold more than 35 millions copies in the US since the late 1970's. He was known for being protective and wanting to be in control over his music.
