Samsung is presently working on its new AI voice assistant for Samsung Galaxy S8 in-order to compete with the ruling smartphones of the tech market. Apple iPhone 7 and Google Pixel smartphones have their own voice assistant.
Galaxy S8 is the most awaited Smartphone from the tech giant and there are reports hitting on internet that the company will roll-out the new flagship with company's own voice-powered assistant will make itself right at home inside the device's native applications.
Artificial Intelligence is the only criteria for Samsung to compete with rival smartphone makers. Smartphone enthusiasts will indeed choose the phone which has all the capabilities in it.
According to SamMobile report, Samsung will launch Bixby, company's own AI-based voice assistant that will be employed in just about every pre-installed app on the flagship smartphone. The report also confirms that the Bixby will be far more robust than its earlier S Voice. Hence, it could be concluded that Samsung is planning to replace its aged S Voice will a new AI voice assistant, Bixby.
SamMobile reports also provided an example of Bixby's possible powers: If user is in the Gallery app and want to browse photos and videos with certain characteristics, user can ask Bixby to pull up images matching those requirements.
Bixby will also reportedly feature contextual awareness, handy when it's answering questions or suggesting actions without user needing to say precisely.
Earlier reports mentioned that Samsung hired a team who developed Apple voice assistant. Vivi Labs, a start-up company created by developers of Siri are likely to bring the new voice assistant from Samsung called as Vivi. The new development is expected to be feature in Samsung Galaxy S8.
Viv Labs CEO Dag Kittlaus said: "Samsung is setting its sights on becoming a major player in software and services, and specifically AI."
A new voice assistant may be called as Bixby or Vivi. But, this new development will indeed help Samsung in the AI department, to compete more closely or even surpass the likes of Apple's Siri, Google Assistant and Microsoft's Cortana.
According to a tipster on Weibo, it is hinted that new Samsung Galaxy S8 variants will feature a 8 GB RAM (made using 10nm fabrication technology) and a newer UFS 2.1 flash storage chip.
Samsung Galaxy S8 is also expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 SoC or Exynos 8895 chipset, depending upon the region. Storage variants set to be offered are 128GB and 256GB, 4,200mAh battery with wireless charging capabilities, a 16-megapixel snapper with RGB sensor, and an 8-megapixel snapper with monochrome sensor.
