'Pokemon Sun and Moon' Updates: Alola-Only Global Competition and Hong Kong Pokebank Now Open

Another Pokemon Sun and Moon competition will be held this month. But don't get the Gyarados excited, or the Charizard growl in anticipation, these Pokemon cannot participate this time, as only Alolan Pokemon is qualified. In addition, Hong Kong Pokebank is now open.

According to Serebii, the competition will be held from Jan 27-29, 2017. Registration will start on Jan 19, 2017 and will end on Jan 26, 2017. Like the last competition last December, this competition will only allow 15 battles per day and is restricted for Alola Pokedex only.

Banned Pokemon list includes Zygarde, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Solgaleo, Lunala, Necrozma, and Magearna. Mega Stones are banned items in this competition. OP moves are also banned, and as per usual, Memento and doom Desire is one of them. Other moves that are banned are Psycho Boost, Roar of Time, Spacial Rend, Lunar Dance, Crush Grip, Magma Storm, Dark Void, Seed Falre, Shadow Force, Techno Blast and more. There will also be an Entry Gift of 50 BP.

The competition will consist of Single battle matches. Additional penalty for people disconnecting during a fight is included. If you disconnect from battle, you'll get a loss recorded in your data.

For the Pokebank update, Nintendo Hong Kong released sneak peeks for the upcoming Bank update. Pokemon transferred will likely have at least 3 max IVs. Natures will be random and there is a chance that the Pokemon will have Hidden Ability. A unique Gameboy mark will also appear in the Pokemon.

National Dex is also upgraded and will now sync up with the game that is used with your Pokebank. The National Dex will list all the Pokemon you caught in the game and combine the data to every game you played. Luckily, there is no need to deposit Pokemon in the Pokebank to collect their data and be synced in the Pokebank. BPs can be sent again. Other stats such as Eggs Hatched, Pokemon Captured and other Pokemon data will also be synced in your Pokebank stat page.
