But now, the series, which will soon air the finale episode of Season 8, is planning something special for its loved character Owen Granger. Actor Miguel Ferrer, who played "NCIS" assistant director Owen Granger on the show, passed away on January 19, 2017 after he lost his battle to cancer.
A new spoiler of "NCIS LA" Season 8 has revealed that the makers are planning to alter the script in order to pay tribute to one of their most favourite characters.
The finale episode has already been completed. But it does not mean that it is not possible to renovate and readjust the script to include a tribute to Ferrer. This won't be much of a problem because Ferrer played a pivotal role in the success of the series.
According to a report, the news of the sudden death of Ferrer came as a shock to his fans. This is because the fans were really looking forward to the ultimate episode of Season 8.
According to Tripped Media, his character, Owen, has been part of the show since 2002. Since then he has always enjoyed a huge fan following.
Even when Miguel Ferrer was part of the show, there were strong rumours that the actor would discontinue the show given his health conditions.
It was in mid-2016 when rumours started floating that his character in the show might be soon fade away. But the actor didn't disclose his health issues to his fans and continued shooting for the series. But he did inform the makers of the show about his deteriorating health conditions. In fact, in August 2016, an episode on "NCIS LA" hinted at Owen's illness too.
All the cast members of "NCIS LA" expressed their condolence to their favourite co-actor.
