'The Vampire Diaries’ Finale: Ian Somerhalder Gets Teary As The Last Cast Leaving Mystic Falls

"The Vampire Diaries" has wrapped up the final shoot as Ian Somerhalder, the man behind the charismatic Damon Salvatore, wrote his farewell notes to fans as he left "TVD" set. There's no denying that Somerhalder's goodbye letter as he left Mystic Falls has made a lot of fans sobs buckets.

On Thursday, Ian Somerhalder took it to Instagram to say goodbye to everyone who has been there since "The Vampire Diaries" first aired in 2009. On his Instagram account, Ian wrote: "From the first day to the last night, I was the last to leave our stages early this morning, not a single crew member, not a sound." He then proceeded to write his gratitude to everyone who made this show possible.

According to Entertainment Weekly, before Ian Somerhalder, other "The Vampire Diaries" casts and crew members have bid their farewell first. Nina Dobrev took a picture of her script and wrote a long, goodbye message on Instagram. Paul Wesley also took part to make the goodbye looks like it is not enough of sadness. Wesley posted one final shot with Salvatore brothers along with Damon's Camaro.

Previously, Ian Somerhalder and his wife Nikki Reed had a lovely dinner with Somerhalder's ex and TV beau, Nina Dobrev, People reported. Nikki Reed documented the moment on Instagram with a lengthy message to debunk recent rumors about her feud with Nina Dobrev. Recently, there has been a rumor sparked that Reed insisted her husband to stay away from Nina because she's jealous of her. The "Twilight" alum also stressed that nothing like "friend-backstabbing-friend" and other utter "nonsense" ever happened between her relationships with Nina Dobrev.

"The Vampire Diaries" costar, Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev" remains close friends throughout the years although they ended their real-life romance. Even though Dobrev announced that she was leaving the show at the end of Season 6, she's recently announced that she's returning to the show's final hour as the one and only Elena Gilbert. "The Vampire Diaries" series finale airs on March 10 at 8 p.m ET on CW.
