Audi will be unveiling plans for a new concept car dubbed the RS Q8 in the upcoming 87th Geneva Motor Show on March 9, 2017. The Audi RS Q8 boasts 600bhp-plus, and is said to rival the BMW X6 M concept car and the Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 Coupe.
The initial concept, dubbed the Q8, was first seen during the Detroit Auto show last month, reports Car Scoops. The Q8 concept showed the Audi RS Q8 to be a 5-door sports utility vehicle (SUV) model with a newly developed petrol-electric hybrid drivetrain, and a much more lowered suspension.
The Audi RS Q8 will also feature a much more conventional direct injection petrol engine. Sources over at the Audi Sport's headquarters in Germany reports that the Audi RS Q8 will feature a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine that will make the RS Q8 go 0-62mph in under 5 seconds.
With the 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine, AutoCar reports that the Audi RS Q8 will be on par with the Audi S8 Plus. The S8 Plus currently boasts 605bhp of torque, compared to the twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 of the BMW X6 M that produces 567bhp, and the Mercedes-Benz GLE 63 Coupe with the twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine that yields only 549bhp.
In terms of its aesthetics, the Audi RS Q8 concept to be previewed during the upcoming Geneva Motor show will now feature a much more different interior and exterior design compared to the previous concept. The Audi RS Q8 will sport a common feature among SUVs nowadays with a sloping roofline on the vehicle's rear part.
The Audi RS Q8 will also be featuring extremely wide grills on the front, trapezoidal-shaped headlights equipped with LED lights for daytime driving, with a similar LED horizontal light strip for the tail light. The Audi RS Q8's interior on the other hand, will feature a touch screen OLED HD display and the latest autonomous driving functions.
However, the Audi RS Q8 is expected to hit the market sometime in 2019 or 2020. Hopefully, more details regarding the Audi RS Q8 will be released during the 87th Geneva Motor Show that will run from March 9 to March 19, 2017.
