New ‘Lucifer’ Trailer Hints No Romance For Chloe, Lucifer Morningstar

Fans vying to see Lucifer Morningstar and Chloe Decker end up together may be in for some bad news. The recent "Lucifer" trailer hints that they are bound to go their separate ways, when the show returns in May.

Fox released a new trailer for "Lucifer" that looks back at Chloe and Lucifer's scenes together from Season 1 and Season 2. The video, titled "Chloe and Lucifer: A Devilish Love Story" starts with their first encounter in Lux, in the pilot episode of the series. The trailer goes on to show their interactions in the past two seasons.

However, the "Lucifer" trailer highlights the growing affection that developed between Lucifer Morningstar (Tom Ellis) and Chloe (Lauren German). Followers of the series are by now familiar with how their love story went.

To recap, going into "Lucifer" Season 2, Chloe started to develop romantic feelings for Lucifer. She acted on her feelings in Episode 11, when she ended up kissing Lucifer. Meanwhile, Lucifer is still trying to understand if what he feels for the detective is love or just mutual affection.

However, the "Lucifer" trailer hinted that Lucifer and Chloe might not end up together. The video ended with the cliffhanger in the Season 2 winter finale, when the detective found out that Lucifer had left Los Angeles without saying goodbye. The trailer ended on a sad note and looked back to that time when Lucifer told Chloe that she deserved someone better and special.

The trailer seems to tell fans not to hope for a Chloe and Lucifer reunion in "Lucifer" Season 2. Regardless, Ellis had since confirmed that the show will continue to use the character's feelings for each other as backbone to the show.

"I love the fact that he's so adamant and so open about the fact that he's the devil, and she's not having any of it. The fact that these two characters are on this path makes this unlikely duo the backbone of what our show is," Ellis told Collider.

Likewise, Ellis also told Fox News that Lucifer is back in Los Angeles when the show returns on May 1. The trailer for "Lucifer" Season 2 Episode 14 showed the devil driving around LA. Speculations have it he returns to exact his revenge on Charlotte, Amenadiel and Maze.

It is only natural for Chloe and Lucifer to see each other again in "Lucifer" Season 2 Episode 14. Perhaps then they can pick up where they left off and get together again.
