'Shadowhunters' Season 2 Episode 8 Recap, Episode 9 Spoilers: Clary In Danger & Malec Fight

"Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 9 "Bound by Blood" promo revealed some troubling new problems. Clary's life is in danger, the Downworld is in trouble, and it seems that Alec has found out about Izzy's vampire venom problem and is blaming his boyfriend, Magnus, and the vampire Raphael. The upcoming episode will eventually lead to Season 2's finale.

In the last "Shadowhunters" Season 2 episode, "Love Is a Devil", Alec (Matthew Daddario) persuades his warlock boyfriend Magnus Bane (Harry Shum Jr.) to host his brother Max's Rune Ceremony. Other shadowhunters from the New York Institute and Simon (Alberto Rosende) attend the party over at Magnus' place. Things don't go well, though, when a warlock casts a spell on the gang to make them hallucinate about their fears and insecurities.

Magnus finds out that the warlock behind the spell is Iris Rouse, who was forced to take his spell book for Valentine (Alan Van Sprang). After she is captured, she reveals that Valentine has one of her warlock children, Madzie, and that Clary (Katherine McNamara) has to save her. Clary also reveals her mysterious rune powers, which she discovered in "Shadowhunters" Season 2.

The biggest revelation so far is that Clary might have pure angel blood and that Valentine would need her to activate the Soul Sword. In the next "Shadowhunters" Season 2, some Downworlders find out about Clary's role in Valentine's plan and make a move of their own.

According to CarterMatt, Clary will get into trouble once Iris activates the blood oath. Clary has to rescue Madzie, but the warlock child is in Valentine's hands. The "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 9 trailer reveals that something has happened to Clary (likely the blood oath), with Simon telling her to wait just a little longer.

Speaking of Clary and Simon's relationship, the two actors talked to Entertainment Weekly about "Climon". Simon and Clary have been best friends since they were young, but they never went beyond friendship since the show started. After Valentine told everyone that Jace (Dominic Sherwood) and Clary were brother and sister, the two have distanced themselves from each other.

After Simon confessed his feelings for Clary in "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 8, the latter decided to give their new relationship a try. McNamara said that both Clary and Simon were maturing. "Simon's no longer the nerdy guy that we saw in episode 1.... he's starting to have a lot more confidence. And Clary is seeing this change in him," she said during the EW interview.

Fans will see whether this relationship will stand the test of time and demons in "Shadowhunters" Season 2 Episode 10 as things escalate. Other Downworlders, particularly Maia (Alisha Wainwright), revealed in the promo that she is willing to kill Clary to stop Valentine's plans. Also, the angel Ithuriel's vision is still a mystery as the group has yet to identify the demon that can destroy the Soul Sword.

Meanwhile, Alec and Magnus' relationship will undergo a major conflict. The "Shadowhunters" Season 2 trailer for the upcoming episode hints at Alec finding out about Raphael (David Castro) giving Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia) vampire venom (yin fen).
