When fans saw the Season 3 finale of "Girl Meets World", they still held hope that Disney would bring in "Girl Meets World" Season 4. Unfortunately, that was the show's last episode since the studio did not renew the series. Showrunner Michael Jacobs expressed hope that the series will find a new home in another studio or channel.
The ABC sitcom, which was a sequel to the 90s hit "Boy Meets World", ended last January. It disappointed many fans, who wanted to see "Girl Meets World" Season 4. Michael Jacobs, the show's creator, told Deadline that he had a feeling his show would last only a few seasons. He fashioned the series in a way that each season would leave the viewers satisfied should Disney Channel decide to pull the plug.
Jacobs went on to say that he was shopping the show around. "I'm making an attempt to find a home for an evolution of the franchise," he said. He expressed that the wholesome comedy entertainment started by 90s sitcoms like "Boy Meets World" would expand and that, hopefully, other networks will express interest a few years from now. "Girl Meets World" Season 4 would have reportedly dealt with loss and change.
The showrunner didn't initially agree with Disney Channel's decision to cancel the show. Jacobs revealed that the show was originally optioned for a fourth run. The show had a huge following and many of the fans had started online petitions for Netflix or Hulu to acquire the series, according to TV Line. Jacobs also said that the cast is on board with the "Girl Meets World" Season 4 renewal should it happen soon.
Many fans continue to show support for the show in hopes that it will get picked up by another studio. Others, meanwhile, had already felt that the "Girl Meets World" Season 3 finale was enough. The episode, "Girl Meets Goodbye", brought in "Boy Meets World" cast members, which was a definite nostalgic trip for those who grew up in the 90s. It was a fitting family reunion farewell since "Girl Meets" World Season 4 was then canceled.
