Jessica Jones will be up against more villains in "Jessica Jones" Season 2, according to showrunner Melissa Rosenberg. However, none of them will be terrifying than Kilgrave, who could return in flashbacks.
Rosenberg teased some details about "Jessica Jones" Season 2 in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. She confirmed that Jessica is not just up against one main villain but several antagonists. She declined to reveal who Jones' new nemesis will be but assured that they are unlike the terrifying Kilgrave. "No one is ever going to beat David Tennant as Kilgrave, so you don't do that," Rosenberg said.
Kilgrave may not return in the flesh in "Jessica Jones" Season 2 but he could appear in flashback scenes, according to The Daily Dot. Krysten Ritter hinted this possibility in her interview with the "Today" show (see video below). She said that when the show returns, Jessica is in a confused place and she has to face the repercussions of killing Kilgrave. After all, she is not a murderer and she became one because of her main nemesis. "I think that's gonna come with a lot of emotional weight and baggage that we'll see how she deals with it," Ritter said.
Kilgrave practically dictated Jessica's life in Season 1. As what Ritter said, he was her reason for waking up in the morning. He somehow became an important part of Jessica's life, in a terrifying way, so merely forgetting him would not be that easy. It is likely that memories of Kilgrave will continue to haunt her in "Jessica Jones" Season 2.
Meanwhile, further details about "Jessica Jones" Season 2 remain scarce. Netflix has yet to announce an exact release date, though 2018 is the planned return. Regardless, ahead of the installment, fans will see Jessica back in action in "The Defenders," alongside Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Daredevil and Elektra.
