Grammy Award winning singer and MC Lauryn Hill was sentenced to three months in prison for or failing to pay taxes on an estimated $1.8 million in income she earned from 2005 to 2007. While the  "Neurotic Society" rapper said that she intended to pay her taxes, in her statement to the judge, Hill sited the U.S government and slavery as indirect causes of her failed payments. Rush Limbaugh, the conservative Republican radio host is blaming Hill's ideologies on none other than the Democratic Party.

"She's a Grammy award-winning singer in the United States of America, and she's trying to portray herself as some sort of prisoner.  Who's putting that kind of stuff in her mind?  The Democrat Party," Limbaugh said on his talk radio show Tuesday.  "All the people she hangs around with in the music business, all the leftists and the liberals, all this constant talk about what a racist country this is.  This is what happens."

Limbaugh was responding to Hill's statement at her tax evasion sentencing.  Hill told Judge Madeline Cox Arleo "I was put into a system I didn't know the nature of.... I'm a child of former slaves. I got into an economic paradigm and had that imposed on me," she said. "I sold 50 million units ... now I'm up here paying a tax debt. If that's not likened to slavery, I don't know what is," Hill said in statement to the judge.

Limbaugh also mocked Lauryn Hill's connection to slavery. "If Lauryn Hill is the child of former slaves, she must be like 130 or 140 years old, the mid-hundreds, if she's the child of former slaves.  She used to be in the Fugees.  She's earned a lot of money in this slave-infested, racist country -- and because it's all been imposed on her, she shouldn't have to pay taxes."
