The "EastEnders" cast was recently spotted filming a funeral scene, which got many fans wondering who died. According to reports, the characters Whitney, Shirley, Tina, Johnny, Billy and Jay were attending the funeral for Sylvie Carter, who is set to die an emotionally-charged death. Mick's character, played by Danny Dyer, was noticeably absent from the scene.
Photos of an "EastEnders" funeral scene surfaced recently. The Sun reported that the show was filming a funeral with characters Johnny, Tina, Shirley, Whitney, Billy and Jay. The publication also revealed that it was a funeral for Sylvie Carter, who had been suffering from dementia after getting released from prison. Upcoming episodes will feature her death in a very shocking scene.
The producers have not confirmed that it is Sylvia Carter's funeral. They said that they didn't want to spoil anything so they wouldn't comment on fan speculation. Photos from the "EastEnders" set, however, revealed that the flower arrangement at the funeral indicated that it was indeed the Carter matriarch.
The photos also showed the characters taking the casket out of the hearse. "EastEnders" spoilers also revealed that Natalie Cassidy's character, Sonia Jackson, will be back to shake things up. Several eyewitnesses claimed that the actress was being sneaked into the set, so as to keep her return a surprise.
Grandson Mick (Danny Dyer) wasn't seen in the scene, however. Fans will remember that the actor took time off during the production to deal with some personal issues. The main excuse being thrown around is that Dyer was exhausted and needed to recuperate from his heavy "EastEnders" filming schedule.
An insider told Express, however, that the writers knew about Dyer's break and that the script was coming along fine. Accordingly, there was no need for them to change anything. Some sources have claimed otherwise, saying that Dyer's absence was a shock to the rest of the crew. The producers have promised, though, that he will be back soon. "EastEnders" episodes air every 8 PM and 9 PM on BBC One.
