iOS10.3 Update Released: Brings Find My AirPods, App Store Review, APFS and Many New Features

Apple has released a major update to the iOS operating system for Apple devices. The iOS 10.3 update brings some major enhancements and changes to the Apple products. Additionally, it might be the last major update for iOS 10 until iOS 11 is announced at WWDC in June.

iOS 10.3 update has been released to the general public and is available for the iPhone 5 and above, the 4^th gen iPad and newer, iPad Mini 2 and above, iPad Pro & iPad Pro2 and the sixth-generation iPod Touch. Many of the changes in the new update are present under the Settings app.

The new iOS 10.3 update brings APFS which converts the current file system on iOS devices to APFS from HFS+. There are claims that APFS is faster and saves disk space and tests by ARSTechnica prove that devices running on iOS 10.3 have more disk space available for use. For example, a 64B iPhone 5s which has 57.93GB of available space in iOS 10.2.1 bumps up the available space to 58.89GB when iOS 10.3 is installed.

Among the plethora of features in iOS 10.3, Apple is also implementing the end of life for 32-bit apps. Apple has been issuing warnings since June 2015 and 32-bit apps might be removed from the App store. iOS 10.3 update also brings faster animations to the Apple devices that convey a greater sense of speed to the users, The Verge reported.

Another notable feature that is included in iOS 10.3 update is Find My Airpods. This feature plays noises in the AirPods so that users can quickly find them. Apple CarPlay interface has also been tweaked in this update. Users can also see weather information in the Maps app by doing a 3D Touch on the Temperature. The Podcast app has received is own widget and users can also rent iTunes movies once and watch them on other devices as well.
