Sure it sounds like a science fiction movie like "Matrix" and such, but this is no big joke. Merging machines and human brain could be the future of the human race as Elon Musk started to make a way to make this technology possible. By making "Neuralink", it is possible that humans won't be using smartphones to connect to the internet (and many possibilities available for this tech).

According to The Guardian, Elon Musk is exploring "neural lace" technology. "Neural lace" is the implanting of tiny electrodes to the brain for humans to be able to make computations directly. Thoughts can be transferred (much like download and upload), so it is possible that dreams can also be recorded. This project is not yet confirmed but a series of Tweets from the SpaceX CEO is deemed to confirm it indirectly.

The project, Elon Musk deemed, is essential to make humans stay economically valuable when "The Singularity" will come. Simply put, Elon Musk wants to make something that would battle "existential risk" of AI overtaking Humans. And the SpaceX CEO added that by effectively merging with AI, humans will have improved neural link between the cortex and human's digital -human extension by becoming an AI-human symbiote.

"The Singularity" was coined by Raymond Kurzweil. This phenomenon depicts the end of human race as machines and Artificial Intelligence will be more and more intelligent and powerful. With computers getting faster and faster, and at a very fast rate, it would be possible that AI will be more intelligent than human beings. And according to "The Singularity" theory, it would be on 2045.

According to Telegraph, Elon Musk's "Neuralink" is a "medical research" facility and it aims to treat chronic medical conditions. The project will be funded by the SpaceX CEO himself.
