New Apple AirPod Case Is Waterproof And Capable Of Charging iPhone And Apple Watch & More

Apple AirPod has revolutionized the way one uses headphones. However, aside from the Cupertino-based tech giant is gearing to bring more in its upcoming AirPod case.

Apple applied for a patent that details the possibility of a future AirPod case that will also serve as a charging dock for phone and Apple Watch. That's not all, it will also recharge portable music players like MP3 and iPod, portable video players, smartphones, gaming systems, holographic projection systems, PDAs, tablets like iPad and even a laptop like MacBook, Patently Apple reported.

There is still no detail about the listed holographic system. Whether it is related to delivering the augmented reality or other features is something that one should look forward to learning more in the coming days.

Aside from this, the upcoming AirPod case is expected to be waterproof. In patent Figs. 28 and 29 an illustration of a liquid-tight electrical connector confirmed this. The "electrical connector #2800 could have mounting flanges and sealed features to make it resistant or impervious to liquid penetration," the patent reads.

The said patent was part of a dump of 250 Apple patent applications from the US Patent Office. Apple notes that the liquid-tight seal will be rated 3 (spraying water) and 6 (powerful water jets). In some embodiments, the seal will be rated 4 (splashing water) and 7 (immersion up to 1 meter). Apple follows the International Protection Rating and International Electrochemical Commission (IEC) known as the I.P. 68 rating system.

Given its promising charging capabilities, the new dock might be bigger. However, users are hoping that it won't be too bulky or boxy as how it appears in the photos.

At the time, it might take more time before clients will see the patent to the product. Also, in many instances, there are many patents that don't make it to the actual product.

Meanwhile, some users think that Apple should attend some AirPod issues prior to this. One complained that there are no stocks in his local store. Another said there are connectivity issues between AirPods and his AppleWatch.
