A new Android operating system Android O will soon be released. Last month, Google released a developer's preview of its new OS and Huawei is reportedly already testing it on their Mate 9 devices.
According to Phone Arena, Huawei is the first non-Google OEM to test Android O on their device. The company is allegedly testing it on their Mate 9 phones. Some Google Pixel and Nexus are already running the developer's preview of the said operating system.
Per the report, Android O has only two languages English and Chinese. Huawei reportedly added a couple of new files app and developer options.
Aside from the limited language, the internal builds that circulate among testers missed important features. Google Play Store doesn't work unless the user is a tech-savvy. It also sideloads Google Play Services after installing the test build.
However, the Chinese company is already working to update Mate 9's EMUI to take advantage of all the enhancements that Android has to offer. The reports about Huawei testing Android O on its Mate 9 model spring from an XDA Senior member who spotted the internal testing builds through an undisclosed method.
The site shared two photos. One showed the device's build number that suggests a current software build version was done. The build number MHA-AL00C00B007-log revealed too much information about the alleged Android O testing on Huawei Mate 9.
MHA indicates that it's Huawei Mate 9. AL00 suggests that it is the Chinese variant. C00B007 did not match any software build that is available publicly and the suffix -log indicates that the build is an internal testing build. Also, the second photo showed a Huawei Mate 9 model bearing the features that are only available in Android O.
It is still unknown when Huawei will announce Android O on its update. However, fans are hoping that the Chinese company will be able to make it available to its users when Google released the final version of Android O.
