"Pokemon Stars" is the codename for the supposed to be Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch. It has been rumored before that the game would be the third game of "Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon". Newer rumors state that the game would actually be a remake of "Pokken Tournament", a Wii Pokemon title.
Nintendo Switch has taken the world of gaming by storm for its strong launch game lineup. It is expected that Pokemon game would be available for the console, favorably within this year. There's even a pseudonym called "Pokemon Stars". But that pseudonym might not be for the Switch as it can be replaced by "Pokken Tournament" for Switch. There are new arcade sticks that are available for Nintendo Switch and supported titles are similar to that of "Pokken Tournament", as reported by Serebii.
It is because of the long time tradition that Pokemon RPGs are made for handheld consoles, and Nintendo Switch is a hybrid. If "Pokemon Stars" will be made, it is more suited in 3DS than the Switch because of the dual screen. "Pokken Tournament" is also a successful Pokemon title for Wii albeit its lack of DLC Packs. Some of the playable characters in this game are Pikachu, Charizard, Mewtwo, and Blaziken.
"Pokemon Stars" is rumored to be not connected to the "Pokemon Sun" and "Pokemon Moon" tandem. GameFreak is reported posting job listing on a site called "Ecareers" looking for developers that are working on 3DS level RPG, reported by Korea Portal. With this, it seems like GameFreak is planning to do "Pokemon Stars" to be ported on 3DS. A Pokemon RPG game for Nintendo Switch is quite not possible for now. New staffs and new developers mean new project, as they will not need new people when they're be using the same maps and characters from "Pokemon Sun and Moon".
