Britney Spears' song from The Smurfs 2 had its world premiere this morning (June 17) on radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest. The pop star gave the world their first official taste of "Ooh La La" at 7 a.m. PT.
"Ooh La La" is certainly a lighter, more family-friendly track for Spears. Electronic beats play at the beginning as Spears lovingly sings that "You don't have to be a movie star, / I think you're good just the way you are."
The track then builds to a stomping, yelled pre-chorus "You know can't nobody get down like us, / We don't stop 'til we get enough, / Come on turn it up 'til the speakers pop, / Break it down, show me what you've got."
The chorus, where Spears asks for someone to be her "Ooh La La," returns to the sweet vocals.
As rumored, "Ooh La La" is a return to an earlier style of Spears. The track feels young and fresh, which is certainly fitting for a children's movie. Listen to "Ooh La La" below:
Late last week, the pop megastar admitted that she worked on the song for The Smurfs 2 soundtrack for her two sons, Sean and Jayden, who are huge Smurfs fans.
In the post-premiere interview, Spears had some new news about her eighth studio album and the point she's at in the process. "It's definitely in the beginning stations right now," she told Seacrest. "I want to take this album and have a new approach with it, make it different from anything I've ever done."
Later, she hinted that unlike "Ooh La La," the new album won't just be for kids. "I think the kids will appreciate it, but I think this music will have a more cool approach to it," she said.
Spears has been in the studio with her "Scream and Shout" collaborator will.I.am, but is working with other producers as well. She teased that producer William Orbit will be joining her next week. Orbit has worked with Spears's idol, Madonna, on some of her latest efforts including MDNA, Ray of Light and Music.
"People will be surprised with this album. It's really different," said Spears.
The most exciting news? The new record is set to drop before 2013 is over!
"Yeah, by the end of the year," Spears hinted when asked about a release date.
