Backstreet Boys New Single 2013 [UPDATE]: 'In A World Like This' Released [LISTEN], Nick Carter Talks about One Direction and Songwriter Max Martin

After teasing the release of the new single all week, Backstreet Boys have finally released the studio version of their first single off their upcoming eighth studio album.

"In A World Like This" premiered on Buzzfeed Music today (June 18). The song, the band's first single off the album of the same name is a happy little mid-tempo number.

Beginning with an acoustic guitar riff and a solo from A.J. McLean, the song also lets Brian Littrell, Nick Carter and Howie Dorough take the lead. The chorus features all five members perfectly blending their voices in a way only BSB can. The track builds and becomes notably more upbeat as time goes on.

"In A World Like This" has the ability to appeal to the younger demographic, who are discovering the wonder of the boy band for the first time. Even though the members and fans of BSB may be a bit older than new boy band One Direction, the new single feels fresh enough to compete with the younger Brits.

Speaking of 1D, in the premiere on Buzzfeed, Nick Carter spoke about the group, who are in a position similar to BSB-mania in the late-'90s.

"Have fun and respect everyone on the way up. Sometimes success can make you jaded... It's important to realize you are blessed with the opportunity of being in the business," said Carter.

Carter also spoke about In A World Like This. The album found BSB working with old collaborator Max Martin once again. Martin helped Backstreet Boys launch to fame by writing some of their biggest hits, including "Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)" and "I Want It That Way."

"It's no secret that he is one of the greatest writers of all time. His melodies soar beyond the borders of most people's imaginations. We are such fans of his music. We love him," Carter said about working with Martin.

In A World Like This will be released on July 30. It will be available for preorder on iTunes beginning June 25.

Backstreet Boys are celebrating their 20^th anniversary this year, as well as their first studio album with member Kevin Richardson since he returned to the group last year.
