Snoop Dogg (Snoop Lion) and Eddie Murphy Release Video for 'Redlight,' New Song 2013 Continues Snoop's Reggae Infatuation [VIDEO]

Snoop Dogg, now under the moniker Snoop Lion, has teamed up with actor Eddie Murphy for a new reggae song. Yesterday (June 27), the video for "Redlight" hit YouTube.

The video featuring the two unlikely collaborators shows the recording process for the new single.

The slow-burning Jamaican infused jam is technically credited to Murphy and features Snoop Lion as a guest rapper. Though he was born in Brooklyn, Murphy's smooth vocals fit well enough into the reggae beats. "Gone are the days where people used to say, 'Everything's going to be alright," he sings.

Snoop Lion's rap, of course, mentions his love for getting high. His verse is shockingly short, making the song truly Murphy's in nature.

Of course, Murphy is best known for being a comedian, Saturday Night Live alumnus and actor in movies such as Coming to America. However, this is not his first time releasing music. Murphy had a huge hit in 1985 with "Party All The Time."

Though he is considered a one hit wonder as a singer, Murphy released three albums throughout the '80s and early '90s. His last foray into music before teaming up with Snoop was 1993's Love's Alright, which featured a duet with Michael Jackson, "Whatzupwitu."

Meanwhile, Snoop Lion has been playing the reggae game for a while now. His first single under the new name, 'La La La' was released last summer. His album Reincarnated and a documentary about his newfound love for reggae were released in April.

Reincarnated features appearances from Drake, Chris Brown and Busta Rhymes. Miley Cyrus also makes an appearance on the album with "Ashtrays and Heartbreaks."
