Just a few days after announcing the release date and title of her third studio album, "Prism" and the name or the album's first single, "Roar," Katy Perry has released a teaser for the new single, and things are about to get intense.
Opening in an all-black frame, a lighter sparks its fire. An angry, serious looking Perry, wearing dark red lipstick, her signature black hair and a black and white dress. The fireworks then spark up, as Perry sets fire to her "Baby Blue" wig. The silent, 30-second video ends with "#Roar" and the Aug. 12 release date for the single.
The colorful hairpiece is most famous for topping Perry's head in the music video for her sunny, "Teenage Dream" lead single "California Gurls."
The dark video seems to fall in line with statements Perry has made in regards to the follow-up to her top-selling 2011 album "Teenage Dream." In an interview with The Sun earlier this year, Perry revealed that her music was about to get "real f*cking dark." "You'd never see my face because my hair would be in it," she told the UK publication.
Following likely in the line of her latest songs, "Part of Me" and "Wide Awake," the tracks off "Prism" are likely to take a more personal turn, perhaps inspired by Perry's divorce from comedian Russell Brand.
"Roar" will be released on Aug. 12, Perry's new album "Prism" will follow on Oct. 29. Perry announced the new album's title and release date via a shiny golden truck in Los Angeles over the weekend.
