Alex Pettyfer (Magic Mike, I Am Number Four, Lee Daniel's The Butler) and Rachel Hurd-Wood (Peter Pan, Perfume: The Story of a Murderer, Soloman Kane) are the latest young actors rumored to be up for roles in J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII. Pettyfur and Hurd-Wood join a long list of rumored stars (including Zac Efron, Ewan McGregor and Ryan Gosling), but they have a slight advantage over the other, bigger names: they are less known, which projects like this usually go for.
In fact, Gosling was rumored to be playing Luke Skywalker's son in the upcoming film, but now sources are saying Pettyfer was offered that role. This 23-year-old actor has been criticized as a "weak" actor, but his work in Magic Mike won him plenty of fans. His most recent film, Lee Daniels' The Butler, is in theaters now and is probably up for an Academy Award. Having him star in this new Star Wars project is probably an okay idea. What do you think of Pettyfer?
The other rumored young hopeful is 23-year-old Rachel Hurd-Wood. She is best known for her role in 2003's Peter Pan and her most recent, notable movie was Solomon Kane. She definitely has a knack for fantasy, so the sci-fi genre of Star Wars might be a good place for her! Plus she is incredibly attractive.
We don't know what role Hurd-Wood auditioned for/was offered, but here is the casting call sheet for the film released earlier this year to give us some idea:
What do you think of these new casting rumors?
