Miley Cyrus has smashed the competition, once again. Her second "Bangerz" single "Wrecking Ball" remains the No. 1 song on the Hot 100 for a second week, according to Billboard.
Last week, with the help of its controversial music video, "Wrecking Ball" blasted from No. 22 to No. 1 on the Hot 100, surpassing top-of-the-chart regulars Katy Perry and Robin Thicke. YouTube views for the music video greatly helped Cyrus' cause. Now that the hype around "Wrecking Ball" has settled down, so too have the song's chart points.
According to Billboard, "Wrecking Ball" had nearly double the points as Perry's "Roar" did last week. This week, the song barely edged out its wild competitor. "Roar" comes in at No. 2, however, this week, but is only behind "Wrecking Ball" by 2 percent. Perry's rebound in points is largely helped by her radio play. "Roar" has finally surpassed "Blurred Lines" as the most played song on radio.
The first three spots on the Hot 100 remain the same as last week. New Zealand newcomer Lorde -- whose debut album "Pure Heroine" is available for streaming now -- is at No. 3 this week with "Royals." Cyrus tops the Streaming Songs chart, Perry tops radio and Lorde tops Digital Sales. "Royals" sold 307,000 copies this week, surpassing "Wrecking Ball" and leading to death threats for the 16-year-old.
Avicii's "Wake Me Up!" continues its surprising success as it jumps up one spot to No. 4. The genre-bending electronic country song led Avicii's album "True," which debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 5 this week.
The formerly unstoppable force that is Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines" continues to fall down the charts. It swapped with "Wake Me Up!" and lands at No. 5 this week.
Jay Z and Justin Timberlake have found the "Holy Grail" in the top 10 yet again with the lead "Magna Carta Holy Grail" single, which clocks in at No. 6 again. Though it's only found moderate success in the Hot 100's top 10, peaking at No. 4 two weeks ago, "Magna Carta" continues to top the Rap Songs chart.
No. 7 goes to Drake's "Hold On, We're Going Home," with the sure help of his album "Nothing Was The Same" leaking.
Lady Gaga's "Applause" continues to fall down the chart, like Thicke, and lands at No. 8 this week. And, like "Holy Grail," "Applause" topped off at No. 4 on the Hot 100.
Lana Del Rey's "Summertime Sadness" rose one spot to No. 9 this week, and Capital Cities' "Safe and Sound" rounds everything out at No. 10.
Falling out of the Hot 100 this week? Eminem's lead "MMLP2" single "Bezerk." The Detroit rapper started strong on the charts, debuting at No. 3 for the week of Sept. 14, but he was unable to keep the momentum going.
Meanwhile, what's right outside the top 10? Britney Spears' new single "Work B*tch," which comes in at No. 12 this week.
