Katy Perry's "Roar" still hangs near the top of the charts, but that hasn't stopped the pop star from announcing her next single. In the cover story for this week's Billboard, Perry confirmed that the second single from "Prism" will be "Unconditionally."
According to Billboard, "Unconditionally" is a slower tempo love song, not unlike Perry's smash 2010 hit "Teenage Dream." At a listening event in New York City, Perry remarked that the upcoming single is her favorite off "Prism."
Thus, close followers of Perry could assume the track would be the follow-up to "Roar." At the iHeartRadio festival in Las Vegas last week, Perry hinted that "Unconditionally" would be the next single in an interview with MTV.
"It's a love song and it's different from 'Roar' -- it's not very eighth-notey," Perry said. "And, I think it's a universal love song that everyone's going to be able to relate to no matter the age, no matter male or female. It's my favorite song off the record."
Perry has yet to announce a release date for "Unconditionally," but fans can expect it ahead of Prism's Oct. 22 release date.
Perry's "Prism" has already experienced massive success. The album's lead single "Roar" topped the Billboard Hot 100 for two weeks and was one of the quickest selling digital singles in history.
Meanwhile, album teaser and non-single "Dark Horse" has had its own success, topping the iTunes Singles chart and peaking at No. 17 on the Hot 100 this week.
Katy Perry's "Prism" will see the light of day Oct. 22.
