The second annual CBGB Music Festival is happening next month and there will be a special Times Square performance by some huge acts to help close it out. Taking place from October 8 to October 13, this festival will have a free, all-day concert in New York City's Time Square featuring performances by My Morning Jacket, Divine Fits, Grizzly Bear and a DJ set from LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy.

There will be two other stages during this free event, so expect other bigger names to be announced as the festival draws closer. This all-day concert will have more of a festival feel and will go on from 10 am to 7 pm on Saturday October 12.

Some other performers will include Spank Rock, Amanda Blank, Meat Puppets, Bell X1, Hanni El Khatib, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr. and many more. CLICK HERE to see the up-to-date list of performers for the second annual CBGB festival.

There is also a film portion of the festival where the movie based on the iconic venue will be premiered. Other films about such acts like Bad Brains, Iggy and the Stooges, the Stone Roses, Bruce Springsteen, ESG, Big Star, the Descendents, Grant Hart, and more will also be shown.

Mstars recently reported on the film CBGB. Here is an excerpt:

Have you ever thought of your favorite punk rock acts from the start of the genre and try to cast them in your mind? Well stop because a new film focusing on the iconic New York City punk rock venue of the same name, CBGB, has done it for you. Harry Potter's Rupert Grint is Cheetah Chrome of The Dead Boys, Malin Ackerman is Debbie Harry of Blondie and so many more recognizable faces can be spotted in this fist look at the film. It might be more fun to try to figure out what bands are being represented, but the film is focusing mainly on the venue's story.

Besides Ackerman and Grint, the film also features Alan Rickman, Ashley Greene, Freddy Rodriguez, Donal Logue, Stana Katic, Joel David Moore, Ryan Hurst, Johnny Galecki, Ahna O'Reilly, Richard de Klerk, Mickey Sumner, Taylor Hawkins, Bradley Whitford and many more.
