More new music from the upcoming Cory Monteith tribute episode of "Glee" has been released online leading up to the episode debut date of Oct. 10 for "The Quarterback." Audio for "If I Die Young" (Santana), "Seasons of Love" (full cast) and "Make You Feel My Love" (Rachel) debuted early yesterday on various music-related websites. Soon after, the rest of the new music was officially released on YouTube (via The Hollywood Reporter). Now, gleeks can hear "I'll Stand By You," "Fire & Rain" and "No Surrender."
"I'll Stand By You," originally done by The Pretenders, was remade by Amber Riley (Mercedes) for "The Quarterback," but it's not the first time the song has been covered by "Glee." Fans with strong memories will remember Monteith's character Finn Hudson sang the poignant track in season one, upon finding out that Quinn was pregnant with his daughter (though it was really Puck's). Remade with Riley's strong vocals, the track remains as full of emotion as ever.
Chord Overstreet and Kevin McHale (Sam, Artie) gave an acoustic cover to the James Taylor track "Fire & Rain." "I always thought I'd see you one more time again," they sing. The song reflects the feelings of a friend after a death perfectly, and the simple instrumentation -- a running theme for "The Quarterback" music -- adds to the heightened emotions.
The final track from "The Quarterback" is "No Surrender," originally done by Bruce Springsteen and covered by Mark Salling (Puck). The song reflects old memories with a loved one, as Finn and Puck played on the football team at McKinley together. Once again, there's nothing but a simple acoustic guitar backing for the track.
"The Quarterback," the "Glee" tribute to Cory Monteith and his character Finn Hudson will feature former glee club members returning to William McKinley High School to mourn Finn's death and cope together by singing.
The episode will air 9 p.m. on Oct. 10 on FOX.
