Demi Lovato has gone ice cold and old school for her latest song. Yesterday (Oct. 22), the "X Factor" judge teamed back up with her old bosses at Disney and released "Let It Go" for the upcoming animated movie Frozen.
Mixing together imagery of snowy mountains and chilly weather with empowerment, "Let It Go" builds the protagonist of the song up, showing she can beat anything.. "Don't let them in / Don't let them see / Be the good girl you always had to be / Don't feel, don't feel, don't let them know / Well, now they know / Let it go / Can't hold you back anymore," Lovato sings leading up to the powerful chorus.
The inspirational ballad is familiar territory for Lovato, who is best known for her feel-good, positive anthems such as "Skyscraper" and "Heart Attack." Musically, "Let It Go" blends together Lovato's current penchant for strong ballads with her earlier poppy sensibilities. Light drums and twinkles of bells highlight the track after the first chorus, giving the song a family-friendly Disney vibe perfect to soundtrack a new animated movie.

"Let It Go" was released yesterday following a social media push by Lovato and Disney. Lovatics, Lovato's fanbase, were encouraged to tweet using the hashtag #DemiFrozen to unlock the song on frozensocialstorm.com. #DemiFrozen quickly became a trending topic in the US, and the song was released on YouTube and VEVO in no time.
Frozen, the upcoming Disney animated film that features "Let It Go," will be released Nov. 27. According to iMDB, Frozen tells the story of "fearless optimist" Anna who treks through the mountains and blizzards to find and defeat her sister Elsa, who is using wintery powers to keep the world in "eternal winter." Along the way, Anna meets up with "rugged mountain man" Kristoff, a reindeer named Sven and a snowman, Olaf. It is loosely based of the Hans Christian Anderson fairytale "The Snow Queen." The movie stars Kristen Bell, Jonathan Groff and Josh Gad.
The soundtrack is available for pre-order now, including an early download of Demi Lovato's "Let It Go."
