Santa Claus has come to town a little early. Kelly Clarkson's first Christmas album Wrapped in Red has leaked in full. The jangly holiday album finds the "Tie It Up" singer in comfortable territory, raising the question why it took Clarkson 10 years into her career before releasing a Christmas CD.
Wrapped in Red features both holiday standards and new poppy tunes. "Wrapped in Red," "Underneath the Tree" and "Winter Dreams (Brandon's Song)" are three of five new songs on the standard version of the CD. Meanwhile, Clarkson puts her spin on classics such as "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" and "Silent Night" (with the help of her new step-mother-in-law, Reba McEntire).
The leak of Wrapped in Red comes six days before its planned release in the US, Oct. 29. Before the album was unveiled in full, Clarkson has released "White Christmas" and "Underneath the Tree" as promotional singles.
Clarkson will promote Wrapped in Red with a holiday special on NBC, set to air in December. The special, Kelly Clarkson's Christmas (Cautionary) Tale will film at The Venetian in Las Vegas on Oct. 30.
