All those Mariah Carey comparisons? They don't bother rising R&B/pop singer Ariana Grande. In a new interview with Complex Magazine, the "Right There" songstress addressed the constant review comparisons to the iconic diva and spoke about some recent terrifying paranormal experiences.
Known for her own impressive vocal range and throwback style, Grande is constantly compared to Mariah Carey in music reviews - MStars News even noticed the similarities upon release of her second Yours Truly single "Baby I." Though consistently and frequently being compared to another singer may get tiring, Grande admitted the Carey comparisons didn't bother her all too much, though she does find them to be a little obvious.

"At first impression I think it's an obvious comparison to draw because of the range and style of throwback R&B. But as you listen to the whole album, Yours Truly, you get to know my sound. You get to know Ariana," she said. "If I complained about being compared to the greatest vocalist who ever lived, I would be a very dumb, ungrateful person. So I can't complain. It's a massive compliment."
Grande went on to confirm that she "for sure" thought Carey is the greatest singer of all time. "Her voice is something that's untouched: her range, her control and her ability," she said before bringing the conversation back to her own abilities. "I take it as a compliment, but I'm very excited when people listen to my whole album and get to know my sound."
Clearly influenced by Carey, Grande has taken poppy, throwback R&B music into her own direction. Heavily incorporating electronic blips and jazzy piano into her music, Grande created one of the strongest pop records of the year with Yours Truly back in September.
Besides the Carey comparisons, Grande also spoke about her Italian heritage and a terrifying paranormal experience to Complex. Read the interview in full here.
