Earlier in the week, reports were claiming that the members of One Direction were in some sort of a debate over the future of the boy band's sound. According to sources, Harry Styles was trying to convince the other members to move the group's sound away from pop music and more into the realm of rock. But Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik were apparently against this change. Now a new insider has come forward to deny this rumor!

Basically, the first rumor stated that after the success of the band's most recent album, Midnight Memories, Styles felt the next record would be a good project to start sounding more like a rock group. Midnight Memories is definitely a step away from the pop genre for the boys, but apparently the rest of One Direction weren't willing to take it any further.

"Harry loves being in the band and respects and loves his bandmates. But he's very ambitious and thinks they should be growing up more and becoming more credible," The Daily Star's inside source stated. "Their third album Midnight Memories was already a lot less pop but Harry wants to push it further."

The source added: "He thinks their next album is the perfect time to create a much edgier and more rock 'n' roll image and he's already writing songs that he wants them to include on the record."

Despite this detailed account of this story from this insider, another source is claiming that this rumor is "100% false." So don't worry about the boys arguing or changing their sound just yet. Until we hear the new songs from One Direction, we should treat this whole situation as a rumor!
