International football (soccer) fans already know that Uruguay's star goal-scorer, Luis Suarez, received a four-month ban from "any football related activity" on top of a nine-game international play hold for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini. In a surprising new statement from the bite victim, we've learned that this ban from FIFA is "excessive" in the eyes of Chiellini.

The Italian player's reaction comes from a blog post he posted to SportLobster.
"Now inside me there are no feelings of joy, revenge or anger against Suarez for an incident, which happened on the pitch and is done," Chillieni wrote after the ruling was announced and Suarez was escorted out of Brazil. "There only remains the anger and the disappointment about the match. At the moment, my only thought is for Luis and his family, because they will face a very difficult period."
As a professional footballer, it looks like Chiellini is more concerned with the game rather than the one, strange incident. In other words, the defender is pretty much stating, "hey, whatever. It happened, but I'm over it."
"I have always unequivocally considered the disciplinary interventions by the competent bodies, but at the same time I believe the proposed formula is excessive," he continued. "I sincerely hope he will be allowed to stay close to his teammates during the games, because such a ban is really alienating for a player."

Clearly hearing Chiellini's opinion on the ban is something we've all been waiting for, but did you expect this?
