While the world waits on the season 8 premiere of BBC's Doctor Who and soaks up all of the news updates, spoilers and teaser trailers, series head writer Steven Moffat is still talking about his own excitement about the new Doctor, Peter Capaldi. This week, the Sherlock executive producer, spoke about the Twelfth Doctor's new look and how the show's team came to a decision on Capaldi's attire. Plus we got to see some great new photos from the premiere episode, "Deep Breath," which airs August 23, 2014, on BBC and BBC America, as well as in select theaters worldwide!

You can head over to BBC's Doctor Who page to check out a great bunch of new photos from "Deep Breath."

"[Peter Capaldi] wanted to be quite stark. Stark and skinny. A stick-insect sort of thing. Clara actually calls him a grey-haired stick insect at one point," Moffat said. "We had some hilarious pictures of Peter just dressing up. It was all coming from him because he's really into his clothes. I didn't feel qualified to go and chat too much about it. .

"Certainly the costume didn't go anywhere until I shut up," the head writer admitted. "The thing I've learned about showrunning is you need to know the bits you're bad at!"

Moffat did explain that, as head writer and showrunner, he does have some say in the outfit, since it could affect the story in some ways.

"I've got certain things that I'll say - I don't want anything in that costume that I have to write into the script," he explained. "I don't want people saying 'But why are you dressed as a circus clown?' I want him to walk into a pub, a restaurant, a space conference, an army base and nobody stares at him."
