The second episode of Cinemax's The Knick continued to open up the world of a 1900 hospital that has some of the most interesting cast of characters you can get into one show. We learned more about the hospital's hardships, but more so we were treated to important character development outside of the main storyline of John Thackery's struggles. In episode 3, entitled "The Busy Flea," it looks like we'll get to see some interaction with pigs, more mafia woes for Barrow and Edwards' mounting anxiety could lead to his own demons. [SPOILERS to follow]
We'll tackle the main photo at the top of this article first. IT looks like the pigs mentioned in last week's "Mr. Paris Shoes" finally see the light of day as Thackery becomes desperate for practice. Will operating on a dead swine suffice for the perfectionist? We don't think so!
Plus, this episode throws another obstacle in his way: he has to operate on an old flame! Knowing Thackery, he knows that he's the best man to do the job, but he's also in an awkward situation. Will he pass it along to one of his assistants? We doubt he'll look to Edwards, though.
Check out this preview clip of this week's episode to see Thackery's old flame:
Also, check out another preview clip, this time focusing on the Typhoid Fever case from last week:
According to a new plot synopsis for episode 3, Edwards turns to drinking this week. Will we see another fight break out or will something worse happen?
Maybe one of the darker moments of last week was Barrow's loss of a tooth at the hands of the mob. We can only imagine him falling deeper into debt, so will we see him facing worse repercussions?
Obviously the drama in this show is matched so well by the general marvel of how a hospital was run back at the time. We can expect plenty more intrigue to arise as the series progresses, so let us know what you're looking forward to in episode 3 in the comments section below!
