Late actor James Gandolfini, best known for his role as Tony Soprano in the HBO series, The Sopranos filmed his last movie The Drop before his death in June 2013. The actor's son, Michael Gandolfini walked the red carpet for his father this weekend at the Toronto International Film Festival.
"I'm just really proud of him," Michael said of his father. "He loved acting. He loved being an actor. I know how hard he worked and I love how hard he worked."
The talented actor passed away on June 19, 2013 at the age of 51, during a vacation in Rome, Italy. Michael found his father unconscious from a heart attack after they had a sweltering day of sightseeing.
The impact his role as Tony Soprano had on the New Jersey community was seen as New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie ordered all of New Jersey State buildings to fly flags at half-staff to honor the actor.
According to E! News the actor was remembered by his The Drop co-stars. "I was very grateful to have the privilege of working with him. He was so talented," said Tom Hardy.
Director Michael R. Roskam explained, "It's sinking in, I'm feeling it. We're all feeling it. We were talking all yesterday about him, all night about the memories."
Gandolfini left his son a trust fund of at least $7 million as well as his clothing and jewelry. "I have in mind my beloved son, but have made other provisions for him," the will states.
The Sopranos actor left his current wife, Deborah Lin and her 9-month-old daughter with Gandolfini, 20 percent of the overall estate." Though the estimate of the overall estate was not given, the actor was assumed to be worth an $70 million.
