Part of comedian Pete Davidson's act may go, "I just turned 20 and it's over, I'm not going to make it," but it appears things couldn't be farther from the truth –– because Saturday Night Live just hired the comedian to be an on-air personality for the its upcoming 40th season, according to Deadline.
There's been a lot of talk for this forthcoming season of the famed NBC sketch show. Just last week, the show announced plans to add another comedian to the cast, Michael Che, but on the Weekend Update segment, replacing Cecily Strong (who will remain on the show, however). They've also gone through the rounds of firings, getting rid of a number of players from last year's new lineup.
Davidson hails from Staten Island and began doing comedy at the age of 16. His father was a New York City firefighter who was sadly killed on 9/11.
After making his name in the New York comedy scene, Davidson began appearing on Nick Cannon Presents: Wild 'N Out, which eventually took him to a Guy Code and the Montreal Comedy Festival, where he earned an incredible amount of notice.
Just this past April, Jimmy Kimmel Live! host, Jimmy Kimmel, had the comic on his ABC show for a short set. Check out his performance below:
Saturday Night Live season 40 will kick off this coming Sept. 27 at 11:30 p.m. with host Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy / Parks and Recreation) and musical guest Ariana Grande.
