Sharon Stone's new movie, the Italian Golden Boy, wasn't made without some hiccups. Some people think that winning a Hollywood beauty to star in your small film would be worth the demands of an international A-List celebrity. However this was not the case for the producer and director brothers behind the film, set to hit the big screen Thursday.
Director Pupi Avati and producer-brother Antonio Avati paint a different story of Stone, reports The Hollywood Reporter.
During one of Stone's last scenes of the day, the actress had to kiss another actor. "Suddenly, she realized that together with all the photographers there was also a TV cameraman who was filming," said Pupi Avati.
"She immediately disappeared. We looked for her everywhere, but nothing! Then my brother received a phone call from Los Angeles from her manager: she wouldn't come back on the set until the photographers and especially that damned TV cameramen had gone away. Obviously we did so and she, like nothing happened, shot the scene. The thing that I found most absurd is that she had to call to the States and to close herself in a car, instead of coming to ask us directly."
The brothers wrote the role of Ludovica, a sensual actress-turned-publisher, for Stone but they were shocked when they were actual able to land her as the role.
"I knew there are American actresses more capable then her, but I wanted a film icon."
Landing her was not that easy, as the brothers anticipated. The negotiating started between her agents and their lawyers was "enough to write a book," according to the Avati brothers. "It was a negotiation that bordered on ridiculousness, concerning embarrassing details, as if Italy was a third world country. By the way, we do have electricity in Italy," he said.
The ridiculous negotiating was accompanied with hundreds of paparazzi following Sharon's every move, something the Avati brothers were somewhat shocked by.
The Hollywood Reporter reached out to Stone's rep Cindi Berger who stated, "None of this is true. Ms. Stone is the consummate professional."
