Laura Benanti Teases Her ‘Nashville’ Character’s Storyline, Shares Continued Love For Costar Connie Britton

Last week, Laura Benanti made her Nashville debut, and now she's spilling all the details about her character's storyline and admiration for Connie Britton. The Go On actress plays Sadie Stone in the ABC country music hit, which returns tonight for an all-new episode.

Laura admitted to Zap2It that she has always loved the show, so when her manager asked if she would be interested in a guest star role, she quickly said yes. When Laura made her first appearance, it was short and we didn't get to know much about her character, so what will Sadie be up to this season?

"She's a singer/songwriter who has been writing for other people for quite some time. She's recently had a breakout album and a breakout song and now her contract is up with her current record label, so she has some decisions to make. She ends up coming into Rayna's orbit a little bit and Rayna takes her under her wing," Laura told Zap2It.

"I've gotten to sing two really amazing songs so far, which I'm very excited about. I appreciate how slowly the writers are weaving me into the fabric of the show because as a fan when new characters come on and they get tons of time I almost feel annoyed," she continued.

As for costar Britton, who plays Rayna James, Laura has not been shy about how much she loves her. The 35-year-old actress is a little obsessed, to say the least, with her new costar, but Connie doesn't mind.

"Oh my god, yeah. She thinks it's hilarious," Laura told Metro when asked if Connie knew about her obsession.

"It's like the hair is made of angel's wings. It's so gorgeous. I don't really understand it. I don't understand how it exists," the Take the Lead actress revealed about Connie's famous locks. "Even when she comes in with her hair wet, I'm still like, that's the most beautiful hairdo I've ever seen. And it's just like slicked back. It's maddening."

Laura isn't just a fan of Connie's work on Nashville, she's a fan of her as an overall actress, especially her work on Friday Night Lights.

"Tami Taylor for sure. Everything is always, 'What would Tami Taylor do?' Classic Connie Britton. She's amazing," The Sound of Music Live! star told Zap2It about her favorite Connie character.

After meeting the Friday Night Lights star on set, Laura revealed that Connie is everything you imagine her to be.

"She's everything you want her to be. Sometimes people have a persona and then you meet them and you are disappointed. She's not that person. She's like the golden unicorn you want her to be. Her hair is like angel wings," she told the publication.
