Parenthood is its sixth and final season on NBC, and as it comes closer to the end we can't wait to see what the cast does next. Monica Potter, who plays Kristina Braverman on the hit drama, already has her next acting gig lined up with another NBC series. Monica has landed a role in a new NBC comedy pilot that has yet to be revealed.

"A half-hour comedy, toplined by Potter and executive produced by Ellen DeGeneres, has received a pilot production commitment from the network," Deadline reported.

Sherry Bilsing-Graham and Ellen Kreamer, who also created I Hate My Teenage Daughter, will write the new comedy. The show is currently untitled and comes from Warner Bros. TV and DeGeneres's studio company Very Good Production. Deadline revealed that Monica will also serve as a producer on the show, which will be loosely based on her life.

Until the start of her new comedy, Monica is focusing on the final season of Parenthood. Even though she doesn't know the end game, she warned fans there would be a lot of crying this season, as everyone prepares to say goodbye.

"I'm not allowed to say too much, but I do know that when I read the scripts I was crying. A lot. But again, I think it's bittersweet. I don't know what's gonna happen at the end. I know a few things that are happening right now, but he [show creator Jason Katims] is pulling out all the stops. There are so many surprises in store, which makes me a little sad, because then I feel like it's so final," Monica told Popsugar about the series finale.

If Monica could choose the ending to Parenthood, she wouldn't have it end at all, she admitted.

"A satisfying ending would be ... to sort of leave it open-ended, because I don't want there to be an end! Then we can do a movie, where we can go to Hawaii [laughs]," the 43-year-old actress told the publication.

"I feel like a satisfying ending would probably be the way that Jason is doing things so far. He has this genius knack for making things feel like they're not all tied up and constructed and constricted. I think that if he sort of leaves it the way that he's been, we're good to go."

Parenthood airs Thursdays on NBC.
