The duchess of Cambridge has returned to her royal duties today after several weeks of severe morning sickness after announcing her second pregnancy with husband Prince William. Kate Middleton and William helped welcome Singapore President Tony Tan and his wife Mary to Britain in the state visit at London's Royal Garden Hotel.
Looking royally fashionable as usual, the mom-to-be wore an Alexander McQueen coat and a Jane Taylor hat, according to Hello! magazine.
Moderately covering her four-month-old baby bump, the royal has suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum — in laymen's terms, a severe form of morning sickness — as MStars previously reported. According to the New England Journal of Medicine, "The reported incidence of hyperemesis gravidarum is 0.3 to 1.0%; this condition is characterized by persistent vomiting, weight loss or more than 5%, ketonuria, electrolyte abnormalities (hypokalemia), and dehydration."
Middleton experienced the condition in her last pregnancy with Prince George, 14 months, too.
The couple already has a bundle of joy who'll not only have the title of "prince" but also "big brother"!
Kensington Palace confirmed to media outlets yesterday that Middleton and Williams will be welcoming their second child in April.
The duchess said, "I've been looking forward to getting out of the house," joking with the Singaporean president. "It's a bit colder than when we last met."
The last time the royal couple met the president and his wife was during their 2012 Asia-Pacific tour.
Although Middleton is now out and about attending to her royal duties, that doesn't mean her morning sickness is in the clear. The palace told Us yesterday that, "The duchess of Cambridge continues to be affected by hyperemesis gravidarum, but her condition is steadily improving."
