Despite not even having a title yet, the movie project known as "James Bond 24" has just added a huge name to the cast list and a filming start date. According to new reports Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz has signed on for a mysterious role in the Skyfall sequel, and the movie will start filming in Dec. 2014!

Read our previous coverage of Bond 24 here, where we talked about Sam Smith possibly taking on the theme song for the project!

We know that Sam Mendes and Daniel Craig are returning to the series, with Dave Bautista signing on as well, now we can add Waltz ... but what character is he portraying? Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Lea Seydoux and Rory Kinnear are also set to star, according to Slash Film.

This news broke when Daily Mail reporter and Bond aficionado Baz Bamigboye took to Twitter to announce it:

We might all assume he'll portray the main villain due to his previous roles, but no official announcement has been made. According to a source speaking to The Daily Mail, it isn't as cut-and-dry as "bad guy" or "good guy" with this role.

"Just because he has played bad guys in other movies doesn't mean he's going to be the baddie here," the source said, pointing out that the character is "extremely cunning" and "a nemesis of sorts."

Meanwhile, Film Drunk points out that Chiwetel Ejiofor has been rumored as the frontrunner for the villain for most of 2014.
