Awkward actress Greer Grammer is adding another honor to her resume. The 22-year-old star is not only an actress and student, but now she is officially the new Miss Golden Globe.
Every year the Hollywood Foreign Press Association names one person as the Golden Globe assistant, all of which are from celebrity families. Greer is one of Kelsey Grammer's daughters, which makes her a great fit for the honor.
"It will be an honor to be on a stage where people are winning this esteemed award," Greer said when she accepted the honor from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association tonight via E! Online.
Past Golden Globe assistants have included Sosie Bacon, daughter of Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick; Sam Fox, son of Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan; Rumer Willis, daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis.
Greer will be Miss Golden Globe for the 2015 award show, which airs live on NBC on January 11. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, who have previously hosted the awards and nailed it, will host the 72nd Annual Golden Globes.
Before preparing for her new role, Greer will be focusing on her current role as Lissa on MTV's hit series Awkward. Lissa is a super religious cheerleader, who has recently found herself in a serious scandal surrounding her adopted brother Tyler. In addition to her own character, Greer revealed that she connects on a personal level to Tamra (played by Jillian Rose Reed) and Jenna (played by Ashley Rickards).
"It would probably be a combination of Tamara and Jenna. Tamara is the super involved, energetic person, which I was a little bit of in high school. I was in a lot of clubs, and school plays and things. And then Jenna is just kind of the every girl, which I think a lot of girls can relate to," Greer told Huffington Post before the beginning of the show's fourth season.
In addition to her role on Awkward and her new position for the Golden Globes, the young actress just graduatted from the University of Southern California in May 2014.
"I really wanted to have a base in acting, and really hone my craft. USC is one of the few programs that let's you work while you're in school, so it was the best of both worlds. Some said I should be focusing on learning the craft, but I feel like I am getting a good education by working too!" she explained to the publication.
Do you think Greer will be a good fit as Miss Golden Globe?
